Joshua Sparkman, Pastor
Josh Sparkman was born in Mobile, has spent more than 20 years here, but was raised in the military. Josh graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in German and Vocal performance. He was converted out of atheism at 20 years old. He attended Christ Presbyterian Church as a college student and went to Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Greenville South Carolina. He is married to his wife, Lori, who, let's be honest, had no business marrying him, and he is blessed to have three boys and three daughters. In his free time Josh likes to read, wrestle with his kids, read more, have people in his home, explore the nooks and crannies of Mobile, and read more.
Scott Owens, Ruling Elder
Scott W. Owens grew up in Greene County, Alabama, and is a 1983 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon moving to Mobile in 1987, Scott attended and joined the newly-particularized Christ Presbyterian Church. Scott has served as a deacon since 1990 and as an elder since 2006. He has a daughter, Isibéal, who joined CPC on profession of faith in 2010. Scott currently practices veterinary medicine at Animal Care of Mobile County in Semmes, where he is owner and manager as well as sole veterinarian. Scott enjoys reading and researching military and naval history, Civil War reenacting, and writing.
Devin Brown, Ruling Elder
Devin Brown was born and raised in Grand Bay, AL. He met and married his wife, Kaitlin, in 2018. She is for sure his better half. Together they have two boys, Shepherd and Stetson. In his free time Devin enjoys reading, golfing, drinking coffee, and playing dinosaurs with his kids. They both have been members of Christ Presbyterian Church since 2020. Devin has since taken on the role of director of collegiate ministry with plans of pursuing seminary. If you talk to him for any amount of time, you’ll quickly see his heart is for evangelism and discipling. He and his family are extremely grateful for how much they’ve grown in Christ during their time at CPC. He is blessed to be a part of and serve a wonderful congregation. Lukasz Myc, Ruling Elder
Lukasz Myc in his early life grew up in Poland. He was converted out of his sin and into Christ during college. He is a physician here in Mobile, Alabama. Lukasz is married to Laura. They have five wonderful kids who enjoy school at Cypress Grove Academy. Lukasz and Pastor Josh may or may not rib on each regularly for their unfortunate choice of certain northern college football teams which are mortal Big 10 enemies. Lukasz also may or may not pride himself on how ingeniously he can troll those who deserve it. Soli Deo Gloria.
